Training diary. - See below

We anticipate the return of face to face Adult Training shortly.

At this time we are still being asked to take the opportunity to complete as much training as possible on line. In particular we are still required to keep our Safety and Safeguarding training up to date, please see links below if you require to update either of these modules. If your first Aid has or is due to expire please see notes below.

Getting Started -

Adult Leaders - Modules 1 & 3, GDPR, Safety, Safeguarding

Executive members -  Modules 1, GDPR, Safety, Safeguarding and Trustee Introduction

Modules 1 Essential Information & 3 Tools for the Role plus the other 3 modules make up what is known as the Getting Started part of your Scout Training. This is must to be done within 5 months of you being registered on Compass. This period can only be extended for a short period at the discretion of the District Commissioner.

These modules are all available online at:

https://www.scouts.org.uk/volunteers/learning-development-and-awards/training/learners/modules/getting-started-training/

Section Leaders and Assistants must also discuss their future training with their Training Adviser (TA) this is known as Module 2. You should have been informed of your TA following your meeting with the Appointments Sub-Committee.

Any questions contact Fiona & Hamish at fdstrainers@outlook.com

First Response opportunities in the coming months:

Module 10A - First Aid - Blended Training
This blended learning module is split into 2 parts:
an online self-led learning course which learners complete in their own time through a learning platform which tracks their progress and completion of knowledge checks as they move through the learning. This takes approx. 2.5 hrs to complete.
followed by a 2.5 - 3 hr online facilitated group session where a first aid trainer takes the learners through some more detailed knowledge checking exercises and discussions. Once complete this is sufficient to validate module 10A.
The dates for the next facilitated group sessions planned are on Saturday mornings from 9.30 - 12.30 (10 spaces for each course):
2 October
13 November
11 December
To register and book a place on the course leaders should email directly on julie.gough14@gmail.com

1st Response 10B Practical

The following dates / times are available for the practical 10B part of 1st Response
PLEASE NOTE: Only those who have done 10A through Zoom or the Blended Version with Julie Gough can reserve spaces.

All the above will be held at 16th Lauriestion Scout Hall and each session has a maximum of 6 places.

Please note that you are now required to maintain a minimum of your First Response at all times.

The Scout Association has updated its first aid training requirements. It has now been split into parts 10a (theory, which confusingly is made up of parts a,b&c below)) and 10b (practical).

Whilst it has been difficult to complete First Aid training during the pandemic, if yours has expired then you now only have until January 2022 to renew it.

First Response Courses
Following the latest guidance from Scouts Scotland and the move to “beyond level zero” we are now in the position to restart F2F training.
The priority will be First Response Practical Sessions – 10B
** You must have completed the three 10A sessions prior to coming along **
The following dates / times are available. There are six places on each session.
Other dates will be available soon.
